Why I Recommend Engagement Sessions
As your wedding photographer, I’ll be all up in your business for hours at a time! Engagement sessions are a great way to become comfortable in front of the camera and get to know me. We have fun and vibe off each other, so you don’t feel like a stranger is photographing your intimate moments. Plus, you get adorable images to show off on social media and use for Save the Dates!
I love photographing couples at locations that are special to them. Do you have a favorite spot to hike, relax or get coffee? How about where the proposal took place? “Day in the life” and at-home sessions are totally awesome, too!
It’s called the Golden Hour for a reason! About 90 minutes before sunset is the best time to take photos because of the warm, dreamy light and soft shadows as the sun approaches the horizon. We can avoid harsh midday sun by scheduling your engagement session near this time.
I try to live by the “fashionable yet comfortable” rule! While sweatpants are my jam, you probably want to look a bit fancier for your engagement session. Bold and solid colors are always great; busy patterns can be distracting. If one of you would like to wear a pattern, the other should wear solid colors to balance out. Accessories and layers are fun, too! For wardrobe ideas and color combinations, check out my Pinterest.
I recommend having your hair and makeup done (or doing it yourself), so you’re fresh-faced with tresses in place for your engagement photos. You don’t have to go overboard, but some simple styling will help you look your best!
